Tyler Pisciotta is a BYU–Hawaii alumnus born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated in the class of 2019 with a major in Biology and minors in History and Spanish. He and his wife, Lauren, are now settled in Nevada, where an exciting chapter is just beginning.
How Did Your BYU–Hawaii Experience Shape Who You Are Today?
My time at BYU–Hawaii completely changed who I am. The leadership experiences and friendships I made prepared me to meet my wife and launch my career as a dentist.
What Is Your Favorite Memory From Your Time at BYU–Hawaii?
I have too many to count! Each year brought more friends, more adventures, and more memories. Some of my favorite nights involved a late-night McDonald's run for a soda and cookies and hanging out at friends' houses.
What Does Your Professional Life Look Like Now?
I am currently finishing my final year of orthodontics residency and will begin practicing in Las Vegas in April 2027.
How Did Your BYU–Hawaii Education Prepare You for Your Career in Dentistry?
Beyond my actual studies, I learned a great deal about working with people from different perspectives. Every day I treat patients from all walks of life, and my time at BYU–Hawaii prepared me to be empathetic and understanding of anyone who sits in the dental chair.
What Accomplishment From Your BYU–Hawaii Years Are You Most Proud Of?
I am most proud of the relationships I cultivated during my time there, especially those I have been able to maintain since graduating and moving back to Las Vegas. Those friendships continue to bless my life and make me a better person.
What Advice Would You Offer to Current BYU–Hawaii Students?
Don't give up on your dreams, even if your path looks different than you expected. Every failure is a chance to grow, and every setback is more time to prepare and reflect. Keep trusting God, keep working hard, and things will work out.
