Passion for Service, Communication, and Public Health

Jiana Gabinete is a freshman at Brigham Young University–Hawaii majoring in health and human science with minors in marketing and communications. Originally from a small town of Dolores, Eastern Samar, Philippines, she is passionate about building meaningful connections through service, communication, and leadership. As part of the Alumni Relations team in Customer Support, Jiana enjoys helping people feel welcomed, supported, and valued in every interaction.

Leadership Rooted in Faith and Service

Jiana has dedicated much of her time to serving in leadership positions within her church and community. She served in the Philippines Manila Mission as a sister training leader and trainer, where she mentored and supported fellow missionaries. She has also served as a stake young women president, FSY inclusion administrator, and seminary teacher. Through these experiences, she developed strong leadership, communication, and mentorship skills while learning the importance of compassion, patience, and service.

Professional Experience and Growth

Before joining Alumni Relations, Jiana gained valuable professional experience as a sales and customer service pepresentative and later as an AI model trainer. These roles strengthened her ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and work closely with people from diverse backgrounds. Her experiences in both customer support and technology have shaped her passion for creating positive experiences and helping others succeed.

Commitment to Making a Difference

Growing up in Eastern Samar inspired Jiana’s long-term goal of becoming a public health professional in the Philippines, with a focus on improving child nutrition in remote and underserved communities. She hopes to combine her background in health, communication, and service to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families. Jiana’s journey reflects her dedication to leadership, lifelong learning, and uplifting others wherever she serves.
