Creative Designer with a Passion for Culture and Typography
Godwin is passionate about using design as a tool for storytelling, cultural appreciation, and communication. His work explores the connection between visual design and cultural identity, particularly through typography. In 2026, he presented “PARA: A Stop for Jeepney Typography, A Start for Cultural Preservation” at TypeCon in Portland, Oregon, sharing his research and creative exploration of Philippine jeepney typography and its role in cultural preservation.
He is experienced with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Lightroom, as well as Figma and other digital design tools.
Dedicated Student and Award Recipient
Godwin has maintained a strong academic record at BYU–Hawaii and has received the Dean’s List Scholarship and Visual Arts Scholarship. His academic and creative work reflects his commitment to developing his skills as a designer while exploring new ways to communicate ideas through visual media.
Before pursuing graphic design, Godwin developed a strong foundation in writing, public speaking, and STEM. He was recognized as an honor student and received awards including Best in Creative Writing, Smart Talking Champion, and the 2019 Science Fair People’s Choice Award.
Missionary Service and Leadership
From 2020 to 2022, Godwin served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines Cebu Mission. During his service, he worked as a social media content creator and International Volunteer Service Representative, using his communication and creative skills to support outreach and organizational initiatives.
His missionary experience strengthened his leadership, communication, adaptability, and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Creative Spirit Beyond Design
Outside of graphic design, Godwin enjoys dancing, reading, writing, and visiting art museums. His background in dance includes participating in competitions such as the National PRISAA 2019 in Davao City, Philippines. His diverse creative interests continue to influence his approach to design, encouraging him to explore movement, storytelling, culture, and visual expression in his work.
