Graham Olsen is a BYU–Hawaii alumnus from Bay Area, California. He attended from 2012-2015.

Why did you choose to come to BYUH?

“Ever since I was young, I wanted to attend BYU–Hawaii. I specifically chose BYU–Hawaii because of the surrounding community and culture on the north shore of Oahu. I knew that it would not only be a great place to receive an education but to start a family. I also enjoyed the smaller classroom size to really benefit from connecting and learning from professors. Additionally, my family and I have always loved the ocean and surfing, so it was a sure decision.”

How was your BYUH experience?

“My BYU–Hawaii experience was unforgettable and truly helped prepare me to be a better leader and enjoy the fruits of learning. I built strong relationships with so many great people in the wards I attended, and I remain in contact with them. Also, I connected with many professors who truly helped develop me and grow a passion for lifelong learning. One of the greatest experiences was beginning my marriage while at BYU–Hawaii and having our first child born in Oahu. The BYUH atmosphere and community upheld strong values and principles of the Gospel and was the perfect place to start a family. Also coincidentally, a great friend who I had lost touch with from my youth, also attended BYUH at the same time and I'm grateful for reconnecting with him and it wouldn't have been without the experience at BYUH.”
