Jan graduated from Brigham Young University–Hawaii in 2003 with a bachelor of arts degree. Her time at the university played a pivotal role in shaping her leadership abilities and passion for service. During her studies, Jan demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, serving as the student body president and holding multiple other leadership roles.
Missionary Service
After completing her studies, Jan devoted two years of her life to missionary service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Utah Provo Mission. Her dedication and commitment to serving others further strengthened her character and deepened her faith.
Professional Pursuits
With a profound commitment to philanthropy, Jan has accumulated over 18 years of experience in development, fundraising, and donor relations. She currently serves as the associate director of development at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. In this role, she cultivates and secures significant gifts, manages relationships with top institutional donors, and designs outreach strategies that consistently surpass ambitious fundraising goals.
Prior Work in Philanthropy
Before her current role, Jan served as the associate director of Major Gifts at Philanthropies of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She played a key role in securing major gifts for BYU–Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center, managing relationships with over 120 donors. Through her expertise in donor engagement and innovative solicitation strategies, she helped advance the missions of these institutions, contributing to their annual fundraising goals for various projects and initiatives.
